ESTHER WELLS
A record of service. A new voice for A brighter future.
Esther Wells is running for County Executive office to focus on fiscal discipline, government accountability, strengthening the economy, improving public safety and expanding opportunity through education.
As President of the Montgomery County Taxpayers League, Esther has spent years on the front lines educating & advocating for county taxpayers by supporting appropriate actions to achieve greater efficiency & effectiveness in the government of Montgomery County & tax equity for Montgomery County taxpayers.
Esther is a trusted leader in our Community & an expert on the MCPS Operating Budget, through her signature annual event—Budget-Palooza—where she brings together hundreds of residents, elected & appointed officials to pull back the curtain on how your money is really being spent.
Esther knows exactly where the opportunities to reduce expenditures are hidden, and knows how to fix it. We don’t have a revenue problem; we have a leadership problem and a discipline problem! It’s time we had a leader who understands the difference between an ‘investment’ and a ‘shopping list.’ Esther is ready to use her expertise to protect your paycheck & finally make this county work for the people who pay for it.

HEr STORY
Leadership grounded in results—and driven by data.
Esther Wells migrated to the United States in 1995 in search of the “American Dream”. Since then, she has lived in Montgomery County and what a privilege that has been. Esther is the proud single mother of two boys, an 8-year-old and a 13-year-old who has Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
She is the President of the Montgomery County Taxpayers League. Esther is an active Certified Public Accountant in MD since 2010. In 2009, Esther received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business. In 2015, she received a Master’s in Taxation from Northeastern University, D’Amore McKim School of Business. Currently, she leads the State Indirect Tax Department of a multi-billion-dollar enterprise of companies based out of Washington, DC., with a proven track record of monetizing multi-million-dollar savings opportunities.
If elected, Esther will be the First Female County Executive, First Black Female County Executive and First Immigrant County Executive. What an honor and example that would be!
Esther believes the county works best when government is competent, transparent, and focused on the basics: Public safety, public education, transportation infrastructure, and an economy where hard work is rewarded. Esther’s approach is practical and disciplined—set clear goals, measure progress, and stay accountable to the people you serve.
I will lead with integrity, listen with respect, and deliver with urgency—because the stakes are too high for politics as usual.
