What Does a County Executive Do?

Montgomery County has two elected branches. The County Executive leads one of them. The County Executive runs county government, oversees essential services, proposes the budget, and makes sure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.

  • Runs government for you: Oversees public safety, transportation, health, permitting, and other essential services.
  • Protects your tax dollars: Controls spending, reduces waste, and demands results.
  • Advocates for you: Listens to residents and makes sure their concerns are heard.
  • Improves government: Cuts bureaucracy, streamlines services, and makes government more responsive.
  • Strengthens our county: Supports economic growth, creates opportunity, and builds a stronger tax base.

The Council writes the laws and approves the budget. The County Executive makes county government work — and serves as your advocate every day. This is why financial expertise and strong leadership matter in this job.

Your voice. Your tax dollars. Your government.
